Literally any help is greatly appreciated. Now what? I have heard that this might be a hard drive issue, but exactly how should I go about this? I only have about 90gb worth of stuff on my computer, so I wouldn’t mind using a Data Migration software and only installing the OS to the SSD. Hi to all again, First of all, Id like to thank the many kind people here for helping me with backup tips and instruction recently. I then attempted to clone my hard drive, first using Disk Utility and later using SuperDuper, but to no avail. Today I replaced the SATA cable and also added electrical tape to the aluminum chassis. ![]() I read online that my old SATA cable was likely the cause of this. SuperDuper makes it very simple to create backups and/or clones of your key files and drives. With a click, it makes a fully bootable backup of your hard drive. Rated five stars on VersionTracker, SuperDuper is the dead-simplest and most reliable backup program for Macintosh I know. I initially attempted to clone the SSD using disk utility, but that failed after it was about 25% done and read “Could not restore- Input/Output error”. SuperDuper works quite well in free mode, but registering gets you access to scheduling, smart updates (which only replaces files that have changed), sandboxes, and scripting. E ven if your computer craps out, there’s no reason to lose your work. I bought a Samsung 860 Evo and also bought a new SATA/Hard drive cable. Now that you’ve selected what you wish to copy you will need to select the destination of the files you are copying. Once the application is loaded click the Copy drop-down to select the drive you wish to copy. I recently updated my RAM to 8gb (which is the max) and have now decided to upgrade to an SSD (the current hard drive is a stock 500GB drive). Now that you are familiar with SuperDuper’s interface let’s get started with the a backup of your Mac using this application. I own an early 2011 MacBook Pro that has begun to slow down to the point where its basically unusable.
